Transportation Logistics
Vehicle Tracking Dealer Portal
The challenge
Optimise, automate and track the order and delivery of vehicles across the country
The client company is responsible for 75% of all vehicle movements in the U.K., moving more than 1 million vehicles every year.
For that reason, they wanted to streamline communications and order fulfillment for two of their most prestigious accounts by implementing custom vehicle tracking portals to be used by said dealers.
This would allow for the reduction of unstructured work, cutting down on e-mails and phone calls required to run daily operations.

The solution
Build web portals using OutSystems to streamline process and provide visibility
Two portals were built concurrently on the OutSystems low-code development platform.
One portal allows dealers to customise and order cars, as well as track and manage orders and deliveries.
The second portal enables car dealers across the country to see the progress of customised vehicles through inspection and delivery, receiving notifications and updates on the portal itself, eliminating the need for manual requests for updates.
The portals integrate with the client company’s custom legacy logistics system and include features such as user management, delivery status, multiple workstreams and management dashboard.
The results
Improved efficiency, reduced costs and effort
Dealers using both portals now have greater visibility of order progress, with a single source of truth available through self-service without having to call or email. That saves dealers a lot of stress and effort as well as sparing the client company time and money responding to routine inquiries.
Moreover, the client company can meet their SLAs without needing to bring in more staff, culling the need for more potential costs. The dealers are happier and the back-office staff finds their work easier and more efficient.
