Peace One Day

Overview

For the last 20+ years, Peace One Day has been campaigning to institutionalise the 21st of September every year as an international day of peace, to call for ceasefire and non-violence in the homes, schools, workplaces, communities and in areas of conflict.

Our mission was to rebuild and host the new website and build a community based around the website, allowing people to learn about Peace Day, to commit to it every day and to connect with like-minded peace-makers around the world.

Peace One is hosting additional events this year starting with a day celebrating non-discrimination and inclusion on 21 March 2021.

The challenge

Due to the large number of people who interacted with the Peace One Day website in the past, especially on the lead-up to Peace Day, the first priority for the new platform is scalability. The goal is to grow awareness of Peace Day, to have more visitors and registrations, which would mean that the website would have to sustain increasingly heavier loads over time.

In order to attract said visitors, the website needed a thorough redesign - something vibrant, attention-grabbing yet easy to understand and navigate. It should promote interactivity and be engaging.

The new website would also require an easy way for Jeremy Gilley, founder of Peace One Day, to add content such as news and features onto the site directly.

The solution

A fully custom front-end website built on OutSystems Reactive to transform Peace One Day’s digital image with a new and radical design, UX and UI.

The application is driven by a custom back-end CMS (integrated with Amazon and SalesForce) and Green Lemon Company’s very own PageBuilder®, which allows Peace One Day to create and manage their content dynamically (e.g. create/edit pages, resources or imagery).

Green Lemon Company’s scrum team delivered seamlessly over a complete 20-week agile project to bring the release in on time and budget before the major event – Peace Day on the 21st of September.

The nature of this project allowed us to reach out and receive support from several partners and companies, without whom this project would not be possible. All of these partners have provided their services for this project free of charge.

“Without peace, we cannot face the challenges of population, food security, literacy, ending poverty, global warming and so on.

Without peace we can’t reach the vital but ambitious goals of the UN SDG initiative and without peace we cannot stop domestic and workplace violence.

Peace unites and gives us, the human community, a chance to make the world a better place for us all.”

— Matt Thompsett, CEO

NHS Dorset HealthCare University

FOI and SAR at Dorset Healthcare were fully manual processes with data being captured in multiple areas (spreadsheets, word, corporate database), which required a significant amount of time and effort from staff, including administrators, doctors and nurses.

The completion of this project would ultimately reduce Dorset’s general administration overhead, as well as other costs, and reduce execution time of all processes involved in FOI and SAR.
